I have recorded my latest album during a 5887km cycle adventure across Europe. Capturing the sounds of the places i visit. Starting in Edam, then to Gruyere over the Alps to Gorgonzola, Towards the Pyrenees and then up to finish in Camembert.

I have sold your room to somebody else. "Goodbye" 9th September 2013

3 countries, 755 miles & 72 gigabytes

Some places you find just make you stop. and think

Bullet marks on the hill fort that was under siege for 12 days

Recording the fantastic echoes bouncing off the walls within the fortifications.
(i'm holding microphones in the air)

Another inspiring place to work on lyrics, singing into the delay and space of the entrance to the underground compound

30 miles later "look there is a  tank....i've got a great idea for a riff!"

You know when you have cycled high up when there are pictures of people skiing on the walls. (5900feet) ha ha

Stop Forest

Across the border into Germany lots of up cycling through forests. Just brilliant!

Stopped inside a disused quarry recording and playing with sound.
Climbed up the old city wall to work on songs over looking the town of Bad Munstereifel

Then popped into a beautiful old church and recorded some respectful cheek slapping beats

Discovery

There you are cycling along, then "wooooooooaaaarhhh" look at that!

The massive Effelberg radio telescope

Another world(s) of contemplation, inspiring vocally, musically and mentally.

35 miles down the road, ha ha. Stumbled upon a radio transmitter.
I went and had a scout about and found the back door was open.

So we went in and climbed about 150 meters up the stairs to have this view

Fantastic, deep reverb ( the sound of a space ) ricocheting off the spiral staircase.

We also recorded the sound of the beat of our feet running around the middle of the tower at 110 beats per minute. ha ha

All powered by Radishes and beetroot, washed down with a litre of chocolate milk. Yummmmm

The Rhine valley

Always on the look out for unusual sounding places...

Went into the city centre and played at the town hall...

Also whilst in Wiesbaden we went to see Audio-Technica

 ...and used their studio.

And finally....

Another long late day, with lots of playing, cycling and digging deep. We cycled as fast as we could for 2 hours and got to our accommodation at 10pm, only to find that the hotelier had sold our room to somebody else. "good bye" we were told.
Ha ha. So we managed to get a little bit of life out of our dead phones by hiding out of the rain and stealth charging off of my laptop...woohaa. we found somewhere.
Character building. ha ha

A full on few days packed with adventure and discovery. All in the name of writing and recording an album.
Cycled a long way from home now. What next?
